Glashedy
A short way off the coast, south and west of Malin Head, and cupped by the coastline, sits this tiny uninhabited island.
As we look out to sea it is visible from beaches and headlands all around. Animated by the weather and the light, it can appear distant and tiny, or dark and looming. But then suddenly when the sun comes out it looks jaunty and inviting, with rugged details, and a raised pebble beach at low tide, flaring out, like a skirt, to one side. The island’s shape also changes. As we move around the arcing coastline, it seems as though maybe it’s Glashedy that is turning, and playfully doing a little dance.
