When Melangell sheltered a hare from Prince Brochwel and his hunt, her life of quiet contemplation was transformed.

So impressed was the prince that he gifted her this land for her own religious order. Known as the patron saint of the hare, her legend is forever intertwined with that of this fabulous creature. And if you see a hare being hunted, it is said that if you shout ‘May Melangell be with you’ the hare will escape.

The hare is constantly on the move, constantly alert, loping a little way, stopping, raising its head, looking and listening then loping a few steps more. The tune follows the eccentric rhythms of its movement.
